The 1st International Workshop in Yancheng & the Asian demo launched
The International Workshop "Global GPFM: Embracing Offshore Wind and PV Brilliance", organized by the Chinese GPFM co-Leads from the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Science (IEECAS) was successfully held in Yancheng from 25 to 27 October.
During this event, GPFM members from China, India, Japan, UK and Italy, as well as representing International Energy Agency (IEA) and private sector companies such as Goldwind and LONGi Solar, have made insightful presentations and actively contributed to the roundtable discussion, which focused on power system transformation and in particular on PV and offshore wind grid integration.
The Mayor of Yancheng Municipal People's Government, Minglang Zhang, opened the event, bringing together more than 200 participants, and welcomed all participants by also underlining the importance of international cooperation. Afterwards, the speeches by high-level representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), China, the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE), Italy, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), UK, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan recalled the main GPFM achievements and the importance of its future activities, shedding light on the Mission's main strategy and pathway towards power system decarbonization.

The GPFM Asian Demonstration launching ceremony was also held at the core of the Workshop. During this ceremony, Yibo Wang, Pillar 1 Lead & Task Force I Lead, joined on stage by key national and international delegates, had the opportunity to announce the Asian demo launching as part of the close collaboration between China, India, Japan and South Korea.

As GPFM Director, Luciano Martini presented GPFM's main achievements and foreseen activity towards R&I pilots and demos, while Mattia Cabiati, Pillar 2 Lead (IT) and Laura Schade, former Pillar 3 Lead (UK) moderated two very interesting sessions with key contributions on main innovation trends and demos in green power technology.

MI Annual Gathering 2025
The GPFM is thrilled to have actively participated in the MI Annual Gathering and Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) Senior Officials' Meeting held from 9-11 April, 2025 in Seoul, South Korea. The three impactful days in Seoul were rich with strategic roundtables, breakout sessions, plenary meetings, workshops and networking opportunities aimed to advance collaboration for the development and deployment of clean energy technologies. These lively conversations and crucial discussions will certainly pave the way for joint actions leading up to the CEM16/MI-10 Ministerial in Busan, South Korea, this August.
